School District 53 serves Oliver with three elementary schools and one high school. Other educational sites include a satellite campus for Okanagan College, and a ULearn (distance learning). While almost everything is walkable in Oliver, a large population of students from rural Oliver are bussed to school.

The Oliver Community Art’s Council offers many events, concerts, art shows and workshops through facilities such as the Frank Venables Community Theatre, Community Bandshell, and the Quails Nest Art Centre.

A favourite for retirees and families, Oliver is desirable due to its affordability, with home prices often lower than Osoyoos and Penticton. Mid-town homes are a mixture of heritage style and 60-80’s construction. Newer homes are located along Tuc el nuit Lake and overlooking the orchards. There are also several new residential developments along the Channel Parkway (which runs North to South through the centre of town).
